MEET TOM COOK
Tom Cook proudly serves as the Maui County Councilmember for the South Maui residency area and Chair of the Council’s Water and Infrastructure Committee. With more than 50 years of experience in construction, project management, and community leadership, Tom brings a practical, common-sense approach to county government.
During his time in office, Tom has focused on Maui’s most pressing needs — housing, water, infrastructure, disaster recovery, public safety, and economic stability. He introduced legislation supporting the expanded use of recycled R-1 water to preserve potable water for affordable housing, fire protection, agriculture, and cultural uses, and he continues to advocate for responsible infrastructure planning across Maui County.
Tom believes Maui’s future must be built with balance: protecting local families, supporting working people, strengthening the economy, and making thoughtful decisions rooted in fairness and long-term solutions. As he seeks re-election, Tom remains committed to serving the people of Maui County with integrity, transparency, and a steady focus on results.

Why Vote for Tom Cook?
His lifestyle and mindset as a Maui resident.
Raising his family on Maui, he and his family lived a simple and humble life off the grid for 35 years by farming and ranching as a means of being stewards of our island’s resources.
Through his lifestyle, Tom learned the value of sustainability and how to make practical decisions on what is best for the greater good of our island and community over what is best for a select few.
In his career, Tom has worked as an accomplished Maui journeymen carpenter, mason, and structural concrete worker, which also furthered him to become one of Maui’s General Contractors for over 25+ years.
During these years, Tom was contracted to build affordable homes in Waiohuli, install Solar PV canopies, as well as design and build residential single and multifamily homes throughout Maui County.
His life as a community member and leader.
